Using items donated to Save The Closet, local creative Chulynda turns them into fun and fanciful pieces of wearable art.
About the Artist:
Chulynda Castellanos is a self-taught intuitive artist. Her mix media artwork showcases vibrant colors, tropical botanicals, and the sea, inspired by her love of nature and her Puerto Rican heritage. She has use the practice of creation and painting for the last 10 years as a healing modality to process trauma and every day emotions. In 2014, after eight years of service in the United States Navy as a welder, and the death of her husband, she sought out to find a career that was more fulfilling as a small business owner. She has worked for the last eight years as a small business owner, while being a full-time mother to her two girls. In March 2020, she felt a nudge to transition her business from handmade home decor (wall hangings, and dreamcatchers) to exclusively paintings, as she found painting to be her soul’s true calling.
